DIVINE FLOW 023: Feelings Aren’t the Final Authority

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”

Feelings are real — but they’re not the final authority.

God gave you emotions to experience, not to be enslaved by. Emotions were never meant to be your compass — the Spirit of God is.

Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us that the heart is deceitful. Not because it’s evil, but because it’s easily influenced by circumstances, memories, hormones, fatigue, and even spiritual warfare.

You can feel grief without being overtaken by it.
You can feel anger without losing your voice to it.
You can feel anxiety without agreeing with it.

Your authority isn’t rooted in how you feel — it’s rooted in what God said. You’re not pretending emotions don’t exist — you’re just refusing to crown them king.

Faith doesn’t silence your feelings. It just submits them to God.

R – Recognize what you’re feeling
Call it what it is so it can’t control you from the shadows.

E – Examine it with God’s Word
Your mood can’t be the map. Let truth be the filter.

A – Anchor yourself in truth
Don’t drift with the waves. God’s Word holds.

Let the Holy Spirit speak louder than your panic, pain, or pride.

Invite God into that place. Ask: “What’s Your truth about this, Lord?” Then let that answer override the noise.

Father,
You are not afraid of how I feel. You’re not shocked, and You’re not silent.
Help me bring my emotions to You, not mask them or magnify them.
Teach me to examine every feeling with wisdom. Let Your truth lead the way.
Even when I feel lost or overwhelmed, I trust You to shepherd me back into clarity.
Thank You for being greater than my heart.
